Senior Product Marketing Manager

You sit right at the intersection of the customer and the product team, and you bring products to market. More than that, you need to be a chief storyteller for Umbel. Above all, you’ll champion the client and the market. You will know our markets inside and out, read the tea leaves on market opportunity and competition, and  articulate our vision and value that will be delivered consistently through all go-to-market channels and directly enable our growth. You will work cross-functionally with the product, sales, and customer success teams. That includes everything from setting the positioning and messaging, to running product launches, to making sure the sales team understands how to talk about the product and making sure customers understand how to use it. Your role is key to customer acquisition and retention--those are the measures you should turn to as measures for success.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Product definition: Ensure identification, development and delivery of product capabilities, features and integrations that meet customer needs and are value-prop-driven. Monitor customer adoption and results to identify candidates to develop into product features. Drive input process across clients, client and sales teams, and the general market. Ensure balanced product roadmap approach that is guided by the market, existing clients, sales input and product category innovation and competitiveness.
  • Product launch management: Develop, document and deliver positioning, packaging and go-to-market plans for the Umbel platform. Collaborate with product to own and maintain the product guide.
  • Sales enablement: Pitch decks, one-pagers, ROI calculators and other tools to help sales sell more and close more deals for sales of the platform.
  • Demand generation: Provide messaging, positioning and customer focus to drive marketing programs and content in support of the Umbel platform, e.g., targeted email marketing, website copy, webinars, event strategy, PR, social, etc.
  • Market definition: Own research, develop and deliver market research, opportunities, trends and shifts for sports and entertainment relevant to Umbel on an ongoing basis. Understand, size and identify opportunities for needs, revenue growth in the sports and entertainment markets.You are the resident expert at Umbel in these markets.
  • Case studies: Own process, goals, development and delivery of case studies in collaboration with client services and product marketing.
  • Competitive: research, document and equip marketing, sales, client and product teams regarding the competitive landscape for Umbel, with a focus on platform competitors but also owning competitive analysis overall for Umbel across platform and services.
  • Win/Loss calls: Jointly owned with product marketing for product, and deliver recaps and actionable insights to marketing, client, product and sales teams.
  • Product Training for Sales: Jointly owned across product marketing. 

Skills Requirements:  As a Senior Product Marketing Manager, you must possess the following skills:

  • BS/BA degree in Business, Marketing, Communications is preferable
  • Deep expertise in sports and entertainment markets
  • Strong knowledge of marketing technology space and target personas
  • Qualitative and quantitative research skills
  • Strong technical writing and content development skills
  • Strong communication, presentation and management skills to interact with colleagues, cross-functional teams, partners and customers.
  • A natural relationship builder--you must be the tightest link between the services-driven product & the customer
  • Collaborative, resourceful and assertive self-starter and driver in the organization..
  • Self-starter and ability to operate in a dynamic capacity--to pivot based on the day’s needs.
  • 5+ years experience in product marketing
  • Experience marketing SaaS or cloud based offerings is preferable
  • Experience in marketing technology and/or sports and entertainment markets is preferable--and an appetite to always be learning. These are fast moving spaces!
  • An unflagging curiosity, commitment and care for our customers wants, needs, aspirations and goals.
  • Start-up experience is preferable
